We took a bus tour around Philly, and here are some of the places we passed.

Betsy Ross house

National Constitution Center. We arrived here too late to see anything, unfortunately.

African American Museum

Chinese Friendship Gate (we think every city has one).

Philadelphia Town Hall

Rodin Museum

Philadelphia Art Museum, with the "Rocky steps" out front

The Town Hall tower with all the flags of the U.N. members posted down the street.

Eastern State Penitentiary, built to resemble a castle. It was used until the 70s. At Hallowe'en it is used as haunted house.

All around town there are murals, some done by children, some by committees, some by professional artists. This is a sample of the styles.

Pink fountain at the Love Plaza.

We stopped for a drink here at Jon's . It is the site where Curley of the Three Stooges was born. South Street is the wild shopping and eating area. Note the decorated bar across the street from the restaurant.

The Philadelphia Art Museum was our first destination the following day. It is overwhelming! There was a special Edvard Munch exhibit, featuring his famous mermaid painting. Note the moon and reflection, which appears in many of his paintings. We strolled through many exhibits and galleries, and we were astounded at the entire temples or houses that were inside. Haven't seen such since the Metropolitan in New York.
